School’s Out was opened by Claire Parker in 2009, following her recognition of a shortage of childcare for working parents in Rothley. Originally running from church rooms in the village and starting with just a handful of children, the club has grown year on year, moving onsite at Rothley Primary school in 2016.
Claire’s main aim for School’s Out was to create a happy, safe environment, where children felt at home and enjoyed spending time together. This certainly seems to have been achieved, with many parents mentioning they struggle to get their children to leave at home time.

Safeguarding
School’s Out are committed to protecting all children in our care from harm. All of the staff team have ongoing Child Protection Training, as well as Food Hygiene Training. Our lead practitioners all have Paediatric First Aid qualifications.

Job criteria for anyone working at School's Out
To work at School’s Out, our staff team must have:
A warm smiley face that makes every child feel special.
The ability to laugh at jokes, that they do not find funny…or even understand.
High levels of comfort in talking about bodily functions…plus a strong sense of smell to ensure quick response to the said bodily functions.
The ability to sing in tune is not necessary. However, the ability to sing out of tune, in front of a crowd is essential.
Skills to count numerous, rapidly moving heads
The ability to stay focussed in an environment with high noise levels.
Be prepared at all times for all sorts of personal questions.
Enjoy feeling special and loved by so many young children.
